the stationary exercise bike has gotta go! It is causing me pain.

I started slowly, increasing my time on the bike slowly over weeks. I did it at the level of least resistance since I am in my mid 80s.

What a disaster! The pain in my calves was awful.

Old people need their own equipment. I'm moving to a retirement community and will not have space for it anyway. Plus, they have trained personnel who will work with me on the equipment in the exercise room.

Before I retired I was doing Jazzercise classes 3 times a week as it was near my office. It helped strengthen me and I am better off now because I did it so faithfully. Dance is great fun!

1. I use mine to hang the dry cleaning and the jacket I usually wear, kept close to the wall so I don't kick it anymore. ..

... I find it very convenient.

My wife will put my wallet, glasses, keys on the seat if she finds them somewhere random. Don't know what we'd do without it.

Just remember: No pain, no pain and that is a gain. Try draping an out of season afghan over yours and see for yourself what you've been missing.

Could only make it about 1/3 of a mile before needing to stop. Saw a vascular doc and he said keep at it as apparently there are 3 other smaller arteries that will stand up in time. Now I am back to my regular routine. Main artery still blocked but I can get a work out in. At 65 I am OK.

In your mid 80 not sure if something like this is in your realm but it might be worth a check with a health care professional.

Good luck CTyankee.

I have other equipment that catches my coats. haha

Should snap back in a few seconds. Check the color of your urine. If dark that’s not good. Might ask the doc if a hydration drink might help as you are exercising.
Have a BUN blood test to check kidneys.
I had a problem with it for a few years. First became aware of it when t tried to donate blood. The tech had a hard time getting any.

age, it is difficult to notice when we are dehydrating. There won't necessarily be sweat dripping off our bodies, but we are still dehydrating --- and daily hydration is required.

If you are drinking only water for your source of hydration and not supplementing with vitamins your body will remain dehydrated. Remember: one of the first indicators of dehydration is wanting something sweet that's because your brain recognizes the lack of glucose, and you can't exist without glucose. For this reason your e-lyte drink must contain sugar! Anyone who says different doesn't know what they're talking about.

I need a fitness program designed for my special needs as an elderly woman. I will get that in the retirement home I am going to. Their fitness programs are designed for the people there, not a one size fits all program. I am sure they will set the appropriate pace for my program.

and I was sadly going by my own abilities as an able-bodied middle-aged man. Sorry about that. Hope you're able to find a good program that will suit you best.
