(9,025 posts)3. I spent over a year at the Air Force base in Goose Bay, Labrador, and never saw anything like this. It's amazing!
And, believe me, I saw some beautiful Auroras while I was there.

I think it takes an equally spectacular burst from the Sun to trigger a display of that magnitude that's visible that far south of the Pole.
I saw some pretty good ones in B.C. years ago, and even saw some in Connecticut coming back to Amherst, Mass. from a Dead concert in Hartford back in '70 I think it was, but never anything like that!
