IMPORTANT - People in Midwest!

A major tornado outbreak is expected today in the Midwest.
Illinois and Indiana are bullseye targets. That said, do NOT let your guard down in surrounding states as you have a high risk too.

This is shaping up to be very VERY bad today with the SPC not fooling around.
How can you keep up with things outside of your TV?

1) If you use Twitter, search your states weather hashtag and save that search. Make sure to choose the tab which says "latest". News travels faster on Twitter than traditional media. An example how to search--

Let's say you live in Illinois, your weather hashtag is #ILWX. It's always your state's abbreviation followed by "WX" for "weather".
Wisconsin is #WIWX for example, on and on.

2 YouTube.
There are many weather guys who stream live and the best thing is that they're meteorologists who work with storm chasers side by side so you see the chasers in real time along with the meteorologist.

2 of my favorites are --

Max Velocity (my personal fav)

Ryan Hall

3) Good Weather Apps

You want weather apps that will immediately alert you on your phone.
Here are a couple suggestions which are free.

Storm Shield

Weather Wise - This app is fully featured and may be a bit "too much" for some.

Please stay safe today!

We lost power this morning for two, and a half hours. A tree fell across the power lines nearby.

tho the forecast for here doesn't predict rain until the weekend. Which means, of course, we'll probably get a gullywasher! (LOL) Thanks for the info... I wonder, is this part of that tropical front that's hitting Houston... like, moving north and setting us up with the heat we've got right now? I've loved weather since I was a kid...

My daughter moved to Chicago a few months ago. I had no idea until last week that there were tornadoes there!

I sent her all of your suggestions. I appreciate you!

I hope it benefits her.
Yes, Chicago is in tornado alley as is Milwaukee. One of the largest naders happened in the very far west suburbs of Plainfield in 1990.
It was one of the rare actual F5 tornado's that's happened. The video is just nuts.
