Guy insists on giving me a personal check

Had a carburetor listed locally and someone out of Texas bought it, wants me to cash his check wait 3 days
for it to clear and mail the carburetor to him. I smell a rat, he's quite adamant about sending only a check.

Doesn't the post office offer a cashier's check or money gram option at a fairly reasonable charge? He has said
he'll need to go to the Post Office to mail it.

Have one week left of cancer treatments, chemo side effects are kicking my butt.

Claims a cashier's check fee at the bank is too "expensive".

I thought we all paid electronically or CC now.

Postal Money order. USPS money order fees are $2.55 for amounts up to $500 and $3.60 for amounts between $500.01 and $1,000. Postal military money orders (issued at military facilities) cost $0.84. Maximum individual domestic money order amount is $1,000.

Didn't sell on ebay, local cable/internet provider "NexTech" has a free buy and sell site.

Plus he could use a check cashing place to cash his own check and buy a Western Union money order. Of course he could just withdraw the money first then buy a money order. Hold for check should be two weeks not three days.

Finishing up my second round tomorrow. Currently wearing a to-go chemo bag, which beats 3 days in the hospital at least. The symptoms are many and varied.

I hope you'll have a complete recovery.

I don't know nothing about checks or money orders anymore. Good luck with that, too.
