A did many years ago, but decided against it, as I just like the freedom of making whatever I want to make. I did illustrate a book about a little boy when I was 16. I was his babysitter, and his sister's. He was a total genius, and was only about 5 or 6 years old. I'd draw him as I babysat them, and talk to him as he was so fascinating. His Mom asked me to illustrate a book about him that she was writing, so I did. Of course I didn't get paid, but I loved that little kid. I just drew a few more pictures of him for her.

I'm now in my early 60's, and have lots of original art I've held onto. I may let some go here in the next few months, and of course the piece I'm just about finished with....probably one or two more hours and she's finalized. I need/like to work alone, with no one around me. I can work and sculpt and draw in front of people, say, at conventions, when I would teach. But those are big doses of people and I'm an isolator, so nowadays going out to the store is an event.

I can do art with my grandson Pacha with me. He focuses on his art as well, and is quite the artist at almost 9 years old - he turns 9 next month.

I do love looking at illustrated children's books and have a few I've kept as the illustrations are so divine.

I am particularly interested in the first one, since I'm currently working on how to use lines to show value and contour.

I thought of you when I posted Wild Mer! I love drawing at times with pens, as you get no second chances - she's from a simple black pen.
