Related: About this forumJust finished a pastel portrait today, 11x14 on luxarchival paper, might make some changes,
I havent done many portraits and Im finding them extremely challenging. I hope the lady I did this for will like it. Its her son and granddaughter. She lost her son so I am doing this as a small act of kindness and sympathy.
Thank you anyone who looks, very grateful for feedback and advice, portraits make me very nervous.

(11,454 posts)For decades. Then had a bad multiple sclerosis attack that left me disabled and left my dominant hand almost useless.
I always wanted to try soft pastels but they are a bit costly so didnt. But decided to treat myself and use it as rehab for my hand.
After 6 years of practice and watching YouTube videos, I can do this now and best of all my hand is about 95% back to normal now.
Thank you again for looking and commenting❤️❤️❤️

(22,337 posts)to create this! (and other pieces) You are a trooper!
The grand daughter is sweet with a a lively expression.
The son is beautifully detailed with lovely light. He's
full of gentleness there.
I believe she'll treasure it!
It's a deep kindness you're giving her.
(I love the colors of soft pastels. But, oh, too "dusty" for me!)
