TCM's Ben Mankiewicz makes me glad he is a Dem

Last edited Sat Jul 5, 2025, 03:33 AM - Edit history (1)

When he hosts various films his personal commentaries are always entertaining but when he mixes current political events with his commentary it is gold. He was one of the Young Turks for a time I believe, very much a Dem!

Tonight when he hosted Yankee Doodle Dandy he said, "It is Independence Day in the states and it is the day many years ago we freed ourselves from the shackles of the incredibly polite Canadian oppressers, pretty sure that's what they're teaching in schools. Tonight's 249th Birthday...Yankee Doodle Dandy."

I wonder how many people understand his political comments.

TCM in general seems to have a dem theme. They do DEI themes for Black History and Pride months. mucifer Jul 5 #1

emphasizing various groups that are considered "on the edge". I appreciate that as a fan of films. It takes me twice as long to watch a "picture" on TV since I always get caught in researching the various actors, writers, directors, and especially the history of the elements of each film. They draw me in and capture my interests.
