See the Loews Theater? That became the Civic.

(37,264 posts)My experiences in Akron are pretty much confined to the Akron Civic Theatre, the Akron Art Institute, Lou & Hys Deli (fabulous chocolate chip cheesecake) and a big summertime street fair. Well, also a couple of Rubber Ducks games, but that was much later.

(37,264 posts)So did Corky & Lennys in Cleveland. All the great old Jewish delis .. such a shame.

(65,946 posts)... It's hard to be more ruined than running it into the ground. Lou & Hy's had a loyal customer base from almost 30 years, but the next generation decided to "update" it, and that was exactly the worst thing to do. I don't think it went five years. They made out all right, some developer overpaid for the lot and tore it down and built some sort of housing out of it.
