Related: About this forumRL Burnside and his grandson Cedric on my mind this A.M.
This is from RL's 1st recording session in 1968. He'd record half a dozen versions of this song over the next 40 years.

(9,863 posts)The last three years Samantha Fish has toured with Cedric and Jon Spencer (Jon Spencer and the Blues Explosion) in the Shake Em All Down Tour for 10-12 shows each year. Samantha's last two albums (Deathwish Blues and Paper Doll) were nominated for Contemporary Blues Grammies, Deathwish Blues was produced by Jon Spencer. Samantha is a great song writer but has covered RL Burnside since early in her professional career. The last of the 4 videos is Samantha Fish without Spencer and Burnside playing Poor Black Mattie when she opened for what may be the last Rolling Stones show in the USA.

(9,863 posts)Samantha and Jon and Cedric appear to have loads of fun playing together.
Saw Samantha Fish in 2018 and 2019, both times at Tahoe.
Discovered her in 2016 searching Youtube for "Janis Joplin Live".
Saw much live music between 1968 and 1988, mostly in SF Bay Area, living in or near Berkeley. Sometimes Music Appreciation posts are 1/2 of groups saw during that time period. In 1993-4 saw David Lindley and what was left of Spirit in Eureka, CA.
