I'd there to help. The song could be about being there for an aging parent or growing child, too. Not just a friend or lover. And that's how I hear it in this cover.

Since it first came out.
My wife & I saw her twice. Both bands were killer & she sang great.
I do a 12 string solo version of this song; that's how much I like it.
