What was wrong with the world. We were seeing the ad world feeding us lines that were meant to frustrate the hell out of us. So we chased superficial things for satisfaction but it just made us want more. Now that cycle seems to be the norm among so many. So many of us dropped off that cycle back then and some of us stayed off.
