1. My parents used to drag my sister & I in front of the tv to watch. I was definitely too young

to appreciate and my sister was probably just in that WHO? mode. But my parents loved her.

I do know the stories my parents told about her (pretty wild in real life too) and had come up as a Vaudeville star. When I adopted my currently 15 yo Aussie/Border Collie-- who already had been named "Sophie" by the shelter, I thought I'd keep it and just add the "Tucker" moniker. I did keep it for a little while buy given few knew her namesake, I decided to simplify after a while.

But, yes. Sophie Tucker was something.

I'm sure he saw her perform in NYC. But I DO know that he cried when she sang 'My Yiddishe Momma' on EdSullivan.
