Duo Bensa-Cardinot, 2018 video - John Dowland's Come Again (1590s) + Sting's 2006 cover + Fields Of Gold (for lute)

After I ran across video of Olivier Bensa and Cecile Cardinot performing Pachelbel's Canon - which I posted yesterday at https://www.democraticunderground.com/1034164035 - I noticed their beautiful cover of one of the songs Elizabethan composer and lutenist John Dowland is most famous for, from a 1597 book of his music, First Book of Songs, that he had published after he failed to become a lutenist at Elizabeth I's court (he later was a lutenist for King Christian IV of Denmark and then James I of England).

Sting loves his music, too, and recorded an album of Dowland's songs in 2006 with Bosnian lutenist Edin Karamazov. I just searched this forum, don't see anything from that album posted here earlier, so I'm posting his cover of this Dowling song below...along with a different and very lovely arrangement of Fields Of Gold.

Today Show performance, with some talk about Dowland:

Sting and Edin Karamazov also recorded Fields Of Gold:
