1. IIRC MBE is the lowest in this group of ranks (and he's not yet Sir Tony Iommi), but still cool

Gilmour, Page and Plant are slightly above Tony, but below Sirs Paul, Ringo, and Elton.

2. Yes, MBE is the lowest.grade. OBE - officer - is above that. Page is OBE. CBE - commander - is above that.
