Related: About this forumWe recently got eight inches of snow,
so we had to shovel a path to the bird feeder.

(24,961 posts)feet off the ground, so safe from deer but not squirrels! No matter what you put out, there's a critter out there that's coming after it, ha ha heh! It's nice that you have that there, the sights of the critters every day must be awful nice. Being in the city, I do miss those sights.

(1,906 posts)... here in central Vermont. I grumble about shoveling and snow-blowing all that white stuff, especially since I can't play in it anymore, but DAMN, I hate that bloody wind! Steady 20-25 mph, with gusts up to 50. Poor birds were clinging to the window muntins on the French doors though there's plenty of evergreen shelter for them around the house. Many bad words were bellowed.

(15,090 posts)We're experiencing below zero temps in the mornings, and of course feel like temps with the winds are not fun either.
But frankly, I love my area and wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

(1,906 posts)... I wasn't born in Vermont, but I got here as fast as I could. Been here more than half my life, and I'm gettin' up there. I get up every morning knowing that there are a lot fewer people older than me, so I carry on. Christ, that's morbid. It's late... and the wind's still blowing.

(16,412 posts)WAIT! I checked the gutter this morning and one end had parted company with the fascia of the house.
The front gutter has a break in the middle to accomodate the fancy front windows.
I had secured one leg of an L-bracket to its bottom with epoxy resin and the other leg with deck screws to the house. Both legs let go.
So there's handiwork to do some 13 feet up.
Damn wind is something else. I'll try to block it from that end of the gutter with a board. For looks, I'll put a solar powered motion sensor lamp up there.
