(298 posts).......thousands of years ago, you can feel safe in dismissing completely anyone who, today, might be bored with your post.
CaliforniaPeggy
(154,460 posts)It's just that sometimes I post a lot of moon photos and I am sensitive to the ebb and flow of comments and recs etc. So I try not to overdo stuff.
Tonight, I felt it was warranted.

(125,020 posts)otherwise, do not ever think there are too many. . no such thing. So just listen to us, and post as much as you like. Others are free to skip right on by, bless their unappreciative little hearts (syrupy southern drawl here)!.

(5 posts)Awesome!! Was in Lisbon last night for a wedding at a Palace and this moon graced us for the evening.

(154,460 posts)Lucky you, being in Lisbon for a wedding! Sounds like a lot of fun.
And the moon was the perfect decoration.

(10,099 posts)I think this might be your best yet but have said that before. It seems something's different with this one somehow - you've captured a Rembrandt-like golden glow about it.
Are you using a new lens/camera/filter setup? Perhaps a different tripod? What ever it is, I sez you're doing her right.
CaliforniaPeggy
(154,460 posts)I'm using the same equipment that I've been using for about the last 3 years: Olympus Mark IV camera, Olympus lens 100-400mm, standard tripod, no filters.
The moon was setting, and that may account for the golden glow. The atmosphere has more color as you descend towards the horizon, and that may have been affecting my photo. Also, the percentage of the moon that was visible was more than the night before. All those things can add up!

(1,130 posts)Can somebody please tell me what a "waxing" crescent moon means? I could google it but I'd much rather have an exchange of information from an actual human being. Thank you in advance.

(25,485 posts)Toward full.
After full it's decreasing or waning.

(1,810 posts)He's on the Google and occasionally shows up on Seth Meyers.
A waxing moon in a tux playing piano pushing late night fast food.
He's funny but weird.
He eventually waned.

(154,460 posts)You'll have to talk to the sun and the moon about the lighting! They're in charge of all that!

We had clear skies in Oregon and a great view of the moon. When I saw it I wondered if your camera was aimed at it.

(154,460 posts)I was out getting this photo between 8:30 and 9 pm last night, so if you were out looking then, well, we were in sync!
Glad you got to see it! I knew I'd get a good shot since the conditions were excellent!

(16,579 posts)You must be kidding! I'm someone who goes outside my condo complex after dark and stand in my driveway just to see the moon and stars (if possible). I'm sure my neighbors think I'm nutty, but I've never much cared what others think.
Last nights moon was amazing and your picture is stunning.

(8,692 posts)Particularly to someone like me who has never been able to see the sky as others see it - combination of myopia and astigmatism, which are only correctable at distances measurable in feet.
It reminded me of the jingle
Oh, moon, we place no faith in you,
For what you tell is never true.
You are not crescent when a "C"
Nor yet decrescent when a "D."
