I used 5-second exposures to catch light trails and multiple bursts that didn't happen at the exact same time, but then to avoid overexposure, I used my slowest ISO (200) and stopped down to f/8, which I would never have thought to use at night. (When I shoot stars, I use ISO 1600 or 3200 and open the lens all the way.)
