There's still some magic left in this cynical old world. But it's not "somewhere out there," it's in the imagination and sense of wonder we may have had as children.

These are just phenomenal! The incredible sharpness and the hazy bokeh! So lovely. Tiny bits of life, practically invisible, but you found them.

I was talking to a fellow DUer on the phone earlier tonight--I guess a few of us here are offline friends as well--and was reminded that the comments posted in the Photography group are sincere and a genuine reaching out in friendship. We're not discussing politics here, and our exchanges aren't, in my reckoning, ever contentious. But we are benevolently competitive, and want to show off in the best possible way. I've been posting here for three years and haven't forgotten those who've taken the time to comment and offer encouragement, going back to my first photo posts in July of 2022.

I always immensely appreciate when anyone takes time to comment on anything I post in Photography or Artists. I feel a lot of encouragement and support from these two groups. It means a lot to me. I don’t post them or display them anywhere else but here.

We’ve got a girl in the same family on our patio. We have the deepest respect for her skills. She is the sovereign of our patio as long as she is able to reign. She started out so small but she gets a tiny bit bigger every day. Her mate is…who knows where? Long gone. What a wonderful hunter! What an efficient harvester! And preservationist! We couldn’t ask for more fascinating visitors!! I hope her family members come back every year!

The orb weavers are amazing. On misty days, especially following an overnight rain, I look for the morning webs and hope to find them festooned with crystalline spheres of water.

I'm always striving for that level of quality, and have hit the mark a few times. Photography is among the best of hobbies, but I wouldn't want to do it for a living. My idea of hell: Wedding photography.

They are mighty tasty when fully ripened. There's nothing like being out in the yard and plucking one to eat while mowing or gardening. I have to keep a close eye on them, though, and harvest before ants invade.

The harvest from a few years ago. I made fig jam.

If it’s “Caught in a web”, I can report that the fly, which was caught in few strands, eventually escaped.
