Lucky light off a nasty subject/lipstick on a pig.

Leafy Spurge (Euphorbia virgata) is an aggressive, hard to eradicate, invasive species that has spread throughout mostly northern US states. Its milky white sap is toxic and careless handling can cause severe irritation or even blindness, if accidently introduced to the eyes. Sheep and goats reportedly browse it without ill effect.

Anyhow, I snapped this two weeks ago at the end of a hike. The sun was just setting behind a distant ridge and a final pink/orange beam lit the top of this example just as I was cresting a spur. At the height of its color (several weeks ago at this elevation), it is a canary yellow similar to DU's notification tabs. Right now the color is largely spent and turning brown and grey. I have to say though, I like the fortunate color from this shot the best.
