Related: About this forumComet lemmon which may be naked eye visible later this month

in january of this year the mount lemmon observatory discovered a new comet which has been named comet c/2025 a6(lemmon)
Right now the comet is not visible with the naked eye but is getting brighter every day. its above the horizon before sunrise but will be lost in the suns glow in the next few days, only to reappear and possibly be visible with the naked eye after sunset in the last half of october.
the green color is its natural color due to the gases its giving off as it nears the sun

(3,696 posts)go to the skylive.com
under highlights click the name of the comet
on the next screen that come up pick a date. I used october 21st as an example
on the next screen that pops up enter your location at the top
on the bototm of the screen are some icons. click the clock symbol on the left.
set the time you want to check. i used 20:00 as an example
if you hover over the comet it will show you the altitude and azimuth the comet will be at .
if you point a camera with a fairly wide angle lens say a 50mm or so and shoot it you should have teh comet.
keep your exposure to 500/focal length to prevent star trails.

(155,346 posts)Getting a photo that has the comet would be a dream come true.
I'll be using my Olympus Mark IV with my 100-400mm lens, along with the 2X extender in the camera. Plus my tripod, of course.
Here's hoping!
