Related: About this forumthe furthest away object ive photograpghed. over 8 billion light years away

Ive wanted to try and shoot a quasar for a while and last night I was finally able to
In the box is a faint fuzzy patch. That is known as Quasar QSO 0956-561 also known as the double quasar.
This object is located either 8.8 or 14 billion light years away. the reason it has 2 differences is due to how far away it is.
the light left the quasar 8.7-9 billion years ago. but the universe is expanding so while it was that far away when the light left it,due to the universes expansion its now 14 billion light years away.
a quasar is basically the brightest object in the universe. Its basically the heart of a young galaxy with a super massive black hole at the center. its sucking in so much matter that it is giving off massive amounts of energy that make it visible at such a far distance.
the light from this object left it billions of years before our solar system was even created.
the quasar is also known as the double quasar. this is because there is a massive galaxy between us and the quasar that is literally bending light so in powerful telescope the quasar looks like 2 separate but identical objects,in a process known as gravitational lensing.
The bright galaxy in the center is NGC 3079 about 50 million light years away. It made a handy reference point for finding the quasar.
Shot with my seestar s50 scope last night.

USA! USA! USA!
That's fantastic, it could be the farthest away thing I've seen, sort of. Thanks for posting these images, I find them fascinating.

Inquiring minds want to know.
