Saturday's Horses * New Neighbors Now Have 3 Horses + Goats. Around The Farm.

Last edited Sat Jul 18, 2026, 07:47 AM - Edit history (1)

Now all three of their horses are here. The latest arrival is named Murphy and she has three white socks.

Pistol came trotting in from the field to see what was going on.

Satine took her time.

Maddie checked out our neighbor's goats.

I don't know their names, but these are them.

Meanwhile, Maddie and Pete stuck close together. Neither seemed too
excited by goats.

Laurie has finished hooking up an underground water system to bring
water to frost-free hydrants. Now water is easily accessible to horses.

Maddie and Pete, heading out to pasture after dinner, while Shadow walks back to the barn.

Dinner at sunset.

Thanks for stopping by. See you next week.

Around The Farm ~
As mentioned in the Horses post, there is now water to the barn.
This is another view of the hydrant and water bucket, handy to the
horses' hay bag spot, pictured first.

Looking back at the barn.

There's another hydrant and water trough on the other side of the barn,
where they get their grain.
Our neighbor's and Laurie's ditch digging has come to fruition.

Shoulder surgery hasn't preventing Laurie from working a few hours every day.
She moves sprinklers in rotation around the yard.

She works on furniture.

She re-hangs gates. Like this one, which needed a new hole drilled to re-insert
its lag screw hinge and lift up the gate.

The previous homeowners built a grape arbor. We started the process to
protect it from birds. With PVC pipe for support we shall hang bird mesh
around the structure.

And so it goes around the farm. Thanks for shooting the breeze.

Maybe not so much an "off" button as a pause switch during daytime brer cat. She does relax, as need be. Thanks! George McGovern 5 hrs ago #2

and was pronounced "recovered" in record time, but I certainly wasn't doing the kind of labor she does. I'm glad you show photos of her relaxing in her chair occasionally or I would think there was no "off" button on her!

But I’m just amazed at Laurie’s ambition and all that she knows how to do!

Maddie and Pete think the goats are “meh”? Too funny.
