Anybody ever watch The Murdoch Mysteries?

Very enjoyable show to watch. It's set in Victorian-Era Toronto, Canada. The production values are incredible, even if the occasional anachronism appears on the show.

It's a fictional look at the early days of forensic investigation. The detective James Murdoch, is a devout Catholic and a man of science (imagine that!).

As progressive as we want our heroes to be from the modern perspective, Murdoch does show many of the prejudices of his time and the faith of its time. There's one episode in which a gay character is featured. Murdoch expresses disgust toward the man and calls him a 'sodomite'.

In most other respects, though, Murdoch is a likeable and admirable main character.

Fun show to watch.

I love murder mysteries. We got hooked on the Miss Fisher series on Netflix a while ago. Set in post WWI Melbourne Australia.

Have you seen the new series? Miss Fisher's Modern Mysteries? Set in the 1960's and featuring Phrynie Fisher's niece? It's terrific!

I like when they cross paths with real historical figures like Nichola Tesla and others. The Wright Brothers too. And Dr. Ogden is a great female character. There was an episode where they crossed paths with some suffragettes demanding the vote.

seasons 1-13 are available on Hulu, and seasons 1-14 are on Acorn. Season 14 was just released beginning in January 2021 and concluded in March.

I really enjoy the show. It's fun to see William Murdoch invent tools to solve crimes, like night vision goggles and the fax machine (via telegraph, no less)!

It was invented not long after the telegraph, and was based on telegraph technology. They were sending commercial faxes in France long before the invention of the telephone.

It had gotten kind of stupid. Even the smartest shows run out of ideas.
