Actor/comedian David Akeman aka Stringbean was born on June 17, 1915.

Actor/comedian David Akeman aka Stringbean was #BornOnThisDay, June 17, 1915. Remembered for his TV role on TV's Hee Haw ( 1969-'71) & as a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In 1973, Stringbean (age 58) & his wife were murdered by burglars in their home. #RIP #GoneTooSoon #truecrime

There is a park named after him in his birth town, Tyner, KY. An annual bluegrass festival (no alcohol permitted) is held in his name at the park. This year's festival took place June 16 - 18. In that area, he has relatives who use a slightly different spelling of his surname.
