Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 starts tomorrow! (Thursday 7/17/2025) official teaser & official trailer

I'm subscribing to Paramount Plus just to watch Star Trek, and when it's done I'll unsubscribe. (I used to have a yearly subscription but let it lapse at the end of last year.) Any time a new season of whatever Trek comes, I'll do the same.

I get Paramount+ as part of my cable package, or otherwise I wouldn't have it. Xavier Breath Wednesday #2

Star Trek after 3 seasons when the intro implied it would run for 5 years

It's probably the streaming service I watch the most. When it originally aired, I didn't watch DS9. At the time I thought 'It's Star Trek, but they don't go anywhere? No thanks.' Fortunately, I've now just about finished it and I'm happy to say I was very, very wrong about that show.

I like SNW, especially compared to some of the other dreck they've produced recently, with Discovery the prime offender. Still, it doesn't have quite the right tone. I don't like having flippant, smart-ass ensigns on the bridge. Picard would never have stood for that. Stop with the Joss Whedon-smart-ass-dialogue and have them act like professionals. Refer to the conduct of the crew on TNG if you need a primer.

I like it best of the latest litter of Trek spin offs - action, thinking, and a bit less overt sanctimony than some of the others. I also enojyed Picard quite a bit. SNW will be fun until it get's too bogged down some big overarching plot (Gorn) and stops being a cool "scifi adventure of the week" series. I like how you get the backstories on Spock, Kirk, Ohura, etc... as well. The crossover with Star Trek Lower Decks titled "Those Old Scientists" was great. The episode title abbreviated is "TOS" which is the same as "The Original Series", which is basically the time that this series takes place in. Seeing the Quaid and Newsome characters in non-animated format was fun, as was seeing the SNW cast animated.

Seriously. We know they don't ultimately wind up together, so for whom exactly is this whole Moonlighting/Cheers-will-they-won't-they nonsense intended? Twenty-somethings that never saw TOS, I guess?
