Nate Swanson
Former Director for Iran, National Security Council
The U.N. has said that more than 30 million people will fall into poverty — even if the Iran war should end right now — because of soaring energy and food costs. While President Trump argues that the new Iranian regime is diminished, experts claim that a new, more hard-line generation of leaders is now calling the shots in Iran. Nate Swanson served as the National Security Council's Iran director. Days before the U.S. and Israel launched their war, Swanson warned that Iran would respond exactly as it has in fact done. He joins the show to discuss all this.

Ricardo Zúñiga
Lead Negotiator with the Cuban Government Under President Obama
The U.S. blockade of Cuba has prevented any oil from reaching the country for nearly four months. Cuba is in the grip of an escalating humanitarian crisis, with fuel shortages causing widespread blackouts and hospitals facing desperate conditions. This week there was confirmation that there have been diplomatic talks in Havana with American officials. Ricardo Zúñiga is well versed in these types of discussions. As a former State Department official, he led the negotiations to normalize relations with Cuba under President Obama. Zúñiga joins Christiane from D.C.

Jen Fifield
Reporter, ProPublica
With the approach of the midterm elections, many are concerned about election interference. ProPublica reporter Jen Fifield joins the show to discuss what the administration's efforts could mean for voting access later this year.
