"Its really hard to leave 'SNL' but it does feel like the right time," she wrote. "Im going to miss it a lot. But the people who work there are my family and that place is my home, and I know Ill never be too far away."
Her departure comes ahead of the shows 52nd season on NBC. Fineman leaves after a sizable upheaval in the shows cast last year, which saw the departures of Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Devon Walker, Emil Wakima and Michael Longfellow before season 51 began and Bowen Yang partway through the season. SNL also added five featured players (Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Ben Marshall, Kam Patterson and Veronika Slowikowska) last season.
... Fineman joined SNL in 2019 as a featured player and was promoted to the main cast two years later. She had a wide repertoire of impressions ranging from Drew Barrymore to Timothee Chalamet and featured in a host of other sketches as well.
Outside of SNL, Finemans credits include Freakier Friday, voice work on Big Mouth and Despicable Me 4 and the upcoming Prime Video movie Red, White & Royal Wedding.
Chloe was one my favorites on SNL, but I'm sure she'll be invited back as a guest host one of the days.

(24,862 posts)She was underused last season, hardly did any impressions, which is her strength.
Not sure what she will do after SNL, the few films she has made were bombs, and I dont think she really has any stand up experience, she comes from an improv background IIRC.
Maybe Lorne will get her a pilot for a series like he has done for several other former cast members like Aidy Bryant, Vanessa Bayer, and others.
The good news is this will create more space for the talented newcomers such as Jane Wickline Veronika Slowikowska, and of course last seasons breakout star, Ashley Padilla.
BTW, Id be surprised if newcomer Kim Patterson returns, since he spent most of last season badmouthing the show to anyone who would listen.

(43,497 posts)Remember Jay Mohr? He was only on SNL for 2 seasons I think in the early 90s. After he left the show he wrote a book about how much he hated working on Saturday Night Live. Janeanne Garafolo did practically the same thing. It's not that they don't have talent, but some of the writers and performers can't deal with the pressure and lack of structure etc.
Having said all of that, I thought Chloe Fineman did great in her 7 years on SNL. She created several characters of her own and she chipped in on skits where she wasn't the star. I'm not sure how much writing she contributed, but that's often a big factor in how much love they get from Lorne.

Im pretty sure she had a hand in writing it.
Its based on a real podcast.
It was the hardest I laughed all season.
Amazingly, the SNL YouTube channel doesnt have those sketches available, but here are some clips deciphering all the slang:
And Chloe talking about the history behind it:
