Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District Calls Special Election for Budget Override
The Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District (COCSD) Governing Board has officially called for a special election to be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. This election will be conducted as an all-mail ballot election, with ballots scheduled to be mailed to registered voters beginning October 8, 2025.
The purpose of the election is to allow voters to decide on a proposed budget override for the district. Arizona school districts can ask for up to 15%, however, maintaining fiscally conservative the COCSD Board is asking for a continuation of the existing 10% override.
This is not a new tax, but a continuation. If approved, the override would provide continued funding to support educational programs, maintain staffing levels, and sustain services that directly impact students and families in the Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District community. Superintendent, Jessica Vocca, has released an Override Fact Sheet to provide factual information about the election. This document outlines what the override means for the district, how it affects students and staff, and what programs and services would be impacted.
Community members and families are encouraged to review the Fact Sheet to become informed about the measure prior to casting their ballots.
