A new poll from a conservative organization shows Southern Arizona U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani trailing Democratic challenger JoAnna Mendoza.
But Mendoza's 47-44% lead is within the poll's margin of error.
Ciscomani, a Republican seeking a third term in Congressional District 6, had the support of 44 percent of the 400 CD6 voters who were surveyed, while Mendoza had 47 percent.
Ciscomani starts the race in a precarious position, with high name ID but also high unfavorables, the survey notes. However, there is room to improve his position with positive messaging.

The Republican-aligned firm's poll showed that Ciscomani was viewed favorably by 32 percent of those surveyed and unfavorably by 36 percent and had a name ID of 83 percent.
Mendoza, a Marine veteran who previously ran unsuccessfully for the Arizona Legislature in 2020, was largely unknown by those who were surveyed, with only 23 percent saying they were familiar with her name. She was viewed favorably by 6 percent and unfavorably by 3 percent.
