Bill Halter announces Democratic campaign for governor

http://www.arktimes.com/ArkansasBlog/archives/2013/01/25/halter-announces-campaign-for-governor

With Dustin McDaniel's withdrawal from the 2014 race for governor not yet fully official, this e-mail arrives from Bud Jackson, political operative for Bill Halter:

Little Rock - Former lieutenant governor Bill Halter will file paperwork next week to establish a campaign committee as the necessary first administrative step towards a campaign for governor in 2014. A formal announcement will be declared at a later date.

“Over the holidays my family and I talked about the demands a campaign for governor would place on us,” said Halter. “We decided as a family that we are up for the challenge. That’s why next week I will take the first necessary step towards running for governor in 2014.”

He's exactly what Arkansas needs, I think-- young, progressive-minded, with previous experience as lieutenant governor!

Go Bill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he should have beaten Lincoln in the senate race but, alas, such was not the case. Of course, it now appears we will have at least 2 Republicans running against him, Asa Hutchinson and Mike Ross. Oh yes, Mike Ross - a scary proposition. This so called "Blue Dog Democrat" (founder of the caucus by that name) is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He is from my district and when he beat out the Republican Rep, Jay Dickey, in 2000, I and my entire family were thrilled we finally had a Dem in that seat and had high hopes for Mike's sojourn in Congress. Boy, were our hopes dashed! His voting record became so atrocious that I vowed I would never vote for him again (and did not except in 2010 when it was a matter of desperation). It turned my stomach though.

Bill Halter, on the other hand, is just who we need for governor, absolutely! Unfortunately, this district is so grievously conservative that I fear no real progressive has a snowball's chance in hell here. I will vote for him nonetheless, of course. Ross stayed on so long because he voted consistently with the Pubs on almost everything. Bill Halter? Well, I can dream, can't I?
