LITTLE ROCK Nearly 75 years after federal officials shuttered a Japanese-American internment camp in Rohwer, Arkansas, the Trump administration is examining a site about 2 miles away as a potential temporary shelter for immigrant children.
The Department of Health and Human Services said Thursday that the government is considering an unused Department of Agriculture property in nearby Kelso as an immigrant shelter, as well as a possible shelter at Little Rock Air Force Base.
Unlike at the base, the site in Kelso has very little infrastructure and would require tents for housing, said Democratic state Rep. Mark McElroy, who is adamantly against the proposal.
Among his concerns are the heat, humidity, mosquitoes and cottonmouths that he said would threaten anyone who lived in a tent.

BTW, I don't know if you're having any trouble adjusting, but I spotted two sleepers tonight - it's frustrating.

(120,827 posts)has gotten itchy, but I'm staying busy catching up on videos the last few nights and drinking a mix of tangerine lemonade with vodka. It might be best to avoid a DWMIRT.
I suspect that I'm going to be bored the next couple of nights as I catch up on everything that happened during the week.

And I don't recommend DWMIRT, either. As for me, I'm celebrating 9 years sober with my women's AA group next week. Actually, I should have done it in April, but I had no one to do it with this year so I kept putting it off. But a girl I'm friendly with has her year next week and I didn't want her to have to do it alone, so I said I'd join her. She's tried before so I'm very proud of her. And she said "I knew you'd wait for me."
