Satanic Temple allowed to intervene in Ten Commandments case

LITTLE ROCK — A federal judge is allowing the Satanic Temple to join a lawsuit challenging a Ten Commandments monument installed near Arkansas’ state Capitol.

U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker on Monday granted the Satanic Temple’s request to intervene in the lawsuit seeking to remove the privately funded monument. A 2015 law required the state to allow its construction.

Opponents argue the government has unconstitutionally endorsed religion.

Arkansas lawmakers last year effectively blocked the Satanic Temple’s proposed competing statue of Baphomet, a goat-headed, winged creature, by enacting a measure that requires monuments have legislative sponsorship.

So, either they will remove the tablet OR end up with a statue of Baphomet next to it.

Great argument for separation of church and state!

This is the sort of thing that really gets to me. We MUST uphold the separation of church and state to the letter. People don't realize how important it is. Denver has a huge Christmas display during the holidays in front of the City an County building downtown, paid for by private donations. People drive by at night and oooh and ahhh at the sight. I think it's ugly and unconstitutional but I have to keep my mouth shut, lest I be a scrooge.
