Even a magat ignoramus isn't going to ignore the situation. She might be popular with a lot of Arkansawyers but she still doesn't want to risk committing political suicide. There are plenty other magats here she could be replaced with.
Remember, Arkansas is weird.

William Fulbright), a Progressive Republican as Governor (Winthrop Rockefeller), and an avowed segregationist for President (George Wallace). If Bobby Kennedy had lived and gotten the nomination, I'm pretty sure the state would have voted for him.
