Report: Over 60% of rural Arkansas hospitals at risk of closing

ARKANSAS, USA — A new report from the Center for Healthcare Quality & Payment Reform said that 30 out of 47 rural hospitals in Arkansas are at risk of closing, with 11 of those hospitals being at "immediate risk."

The report looks at rural hospitals throughout the country that are at risk of closing and the factors that could be leading up to their closures, namely specific financial woes — the report points to losses on patient services, insufficient revenues from other sources to offset losses, and low financial reserves as key issues.

"Over the past decade, more than 100 rural hospitals have closed. As a result, the millions of Americans who live in those communities no longer have access to an emergency room, inpatient care, and many other hospital services that citizens in most of the rest of the country take for granted," the survey said.

Surveyors said that over 700 rural hospitals in the US are at risk of closing due to financial problems, which accounts for 1/3 of all rural hospitals in the country. Additionally, of those 700 hospitals, more than 300 are at immediate risk of closing.

reasons. If states and local governments don't do something, trump's BBB will obviously hasten some closures.

"Rural hospital closures
Has a hospital near you shut its doors? Our small town hospitals, many of which already serve vast areas because of the lack of other healthcare resources, are closing left and right. Over the past 12 years, almost 60 rural hospitals have closed in Arkansas and its neighboring states.

According to Becker’s Hospital Report from last year, there are 22 rural Arkansas hospitals right now at risk of permanently closing. These 22 hospitals make up nearly half of Arkansas’s rural hospital network."
