Pulaski County Board of Election Commissioners approve rezoning of school zones
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) Due to the daily attendance of the Little Rock School District falling below the daily requirement of 20,000, the Pulaski County Board of Election Commissioners has approved the LRSD election zones to go from 9 to 7.
Because of the falling of the daily attendance, the district had to change their number of zones from 9 to either 7 or 5, with the new plan deciding on the former.
In July, members of the Little Rock School District board raised concerns and ultimately decided to get the community involved.
As a result of the new zoning plan, all new seven zones will have to elect new school board members, with the terms being decided to be two or four years. Annual school elections have also been moved to the primaries.
