AR-AUD: Auditor of State Dennis Milligan (R) announced Monday that he will seek re-election to a second term.
Milligan, a Republican, was first elected to the office in 2022 with nearly 67 percent of the vote. The auditors office manages payroll for more than 700 state officials and administers Arkansas unclaimed property program, known as the Great Arkansas Treasure Hunt.
Milligan cited accomplishments during his first term, including transferring payroll recipients to the Arkansas Administrative Statewide Information System, launching a Data Match program to streamline unclaimed property payments, and introducing electronic remittance options for businesses reporting property.
Since taking office, Milligan said his administration has returned more than $90 million in unclaimed funds to Arkansans. He said he intends to expand the Data Match program and continue efforts to modernize office operations if re-elected.
Before becoming auditor, Milligan served two terms as state treasurer and previously operated a small business.
