AD-HD70: Sanders Sets Date for House District 70 Special Election

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has set Tuesday, June 9, 2026, as the date for a special election to fill the vacant House District 70 seat.

Republican Carlton Wing had represented District 70, which encompasses parts of North Little Rock and Sherwood, but resigned last month to accept the position as CEO of Arkansas PBS.

Special primary elections will be held Tuesday, March 3, and runoff elections, if necessary, are slated for March 31. The period for filing for candidacy as a party candidate with the Secretary of State’s Office will commence at 12 noon on Monday, November 3, and end at noon on Wednesday, November 12, the governor announced. Certificates of nomination must be issued by parties no later than noon on Friday, April 10, 2026, and candidates shall file the certificates of nomination by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026.
