Redondo Beach March 4 election: Here's who's running for District 1 councilmember

Voters in Redondo Beach’s District 1 will soon decide who their City Council representative will be for the next four years.

Ballots for the all mail-in March 4 election began going out earlier this month, and drop off boxes are open. This is the first time the city is using the ranked-choice voting method to elect the mayor, city attorney and councilmembers to represent Districts 1, 2 and 4.

A little more than 10,000 registered voters live in District 1, which covers the southern area of Redondo Beach. The district is also home to the Riviera Village, a downtown-like retail area around Catalina Avenue and Vista Del Mar.

Current District 1 Councilmember Nils Nehrenheim is termed out and is running for mayor instead. That leaves no incumbent in the race, which features three candidates: Darin King, Rolf Struzenberg and Brad Waller.
