(11,378 posts)if I could afford it. I'm retired and was initally transfered to Texas in '87 by my employer and it does not even resemble the state it was when I first came.
If California hated? Maybe by some people who have never been there...I personally like Northern California the best...the climate, the beauty, the culture, the people.
I think a lot of the animosity towards California is just jealousy. Admittedly, I am jealous.
Be thankful you live in where you do....the grass is no always greener elsewhere. ☮

(Who is hating on CA? What type of people are they, at base? )
(And, secondly - is this from roughly the same kind of source - that was assuring us a week or so back, that Fisherman's Wharf had become nothing more than a slum ridden ghost town? Maybe not the most reliable sourcing?)

(14,797 posts)Definitely not California. My brother lives there and has for years. I lived there as a little kid My dad got an offer to go back and I'll never understand why he didn't take it--Cal Santa Cruz. Man, I would have loved that! I was a teenager at the time, I think.

(8,051 posts)I grew up in Saudi Arabia, and Ive lived in Ohio, New Orleans, Phoenix, St. Louis and Texas.
NorCal is awesome. The mountains are extensive and beautiful, and the towns and cities are pretty and friendly for the most part. The weather here is beautiful, with mild winters and clean air.
The schools in Davis are the best. I raised both my kids here a teacher and a lawyer and I feel like this is my forever home.
