DE-SD04: Famiglietti (D) storms to victory in Senate 4 special election
NORTH PROVIDENCE District 4 Senator-elect Stefano Famiglietti had a wider margin of victory in Tuesday's general election than in his easy primary win, defeating Alexander Asermely by 66 percent.
The Democrat Famiglietti secured 82.92 percent of the vote, or 1,690 votes, several times the 16.29 percent, or 332 votes, won by Republican Asermely.
I am extremely humbled to have been elected to serve the community in which I was born and raised in the State Senate, and I look forward to the opportunity to work on the state level to support our district," said Famiglietti. "Just as when I was on the North Providence Town Council, my door will always be open, and I will never forget that I am in the Senate to work on behalf of the people of North Providence and Providence."
He added, "I want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this campaign, first and foremost my wife, Samantha. I am grateful to the dozens of supporters who took time to volunteer on my behalf, canvassing the district, making phone calls, and talking with our neighbors. Most of all, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the voters of District 4. Representing them in the Rhode Island Senate is a tremendous honor.
