Because of DC's status as a federal district and not part of a state, federal law gives Trump the power to federalize much of the control of DC. Given his narcissistic nature, he will double down on this if she antagonizes him too much. She wants to push back against the funding cuts while not pushing so hard that he digs in and screws them even more.

It was but all the hype was on other parts of the bill that were even more awful.
When your entire legislation is a giant nonconsensual turd in the face of America, it's hard to stand out.

Try this. For a couple of weeks watch the NBC, ABC, and CBS nightly news. What you will see is the briefest possible coverage of national events then most of the “newscast” will be a multi-vehicle crash, a fatal house fire somewhere, a feel good story, and something about a celebrity.

There is no morning network news - the morning programs are insipid, low IQ crap about some third-celebrity’s latest record or diet book, interspersed with interviews with some unknown influencer personality.

I’m stunned every time I watch network and cable “news” at the ignorance of the hosts - no background in history, mispronounce basic words, use improper grammar.

Complete dereliction of essential duty for the Fourth Estate to inform the citizenry in matters vital to a government which is supposed to be Of, By, and For The People.

and apply the same to NPR & PBS.

Loads of celebrity interviews, recipes, "human interest" fluff, propaganda, and thoughtless conversation among the poorly-qualified... very little time spent on factual news or rigorously-reasoned & -informed opinion. And their idea of balanced discussion carefully excludes the many-prize winning journalists & historians who've been pushed out of the the MSM for failing to toe the lines of either of the establishement political parties (Seymour Hersh, Chris Hedges, et al.).

And then attacked Hillary Clinton endlessly when an embassy was attacked.

Seems like no one in the media questioned them about that. I predict the same here.
