Special recall election for 2 Fort Myers Beach town council members scheduled for Nov. 4

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — A court-ordered special recall election for Fort Myers Beach council members John R. King and Karen Woodson is set for Tuesday, Nov. 4.

King and Woodson have faced allegations of violating the Sunshine Law. Gulf Coast News reported last week that a recall committee had been petitioning to remove the two council members.

According to the town of Fort Myers Beach, an emergency ordinance to identify the qualifying period for potentially filling vacancies that may result from the special recall election will be presented to the town council on Thursday.

Officials stated that citizens interested in applying must be Fort Myers Beach residents, registered voters, and have resided in the corporate limits of the municipality for at least one year before qualifying for the election.
