SPOTLIGHT RACE: Rob Long for FL-HD90 (Special Election)
Rob Long is a dedicated public servant, accomplished engineer, and committed community advocate with a vision for a prosperous and sustainable Florida. With over a decade of experience in civil engineering and public service, Rob is ready to bring practical solutions and forward-thinking leadership to the State House.
As a current Delray Beach City Commissioner, Rob has been a proactive leader focused on enhancing public safety, promoting sustainable development, spearheading environmental initiatives, and ensuring government transparency. He has championed competitive wages for first responders, recognizing their vital role in community well-being, and represents Delray Beach on the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA) Governing Board, helping to prioritize critical transportation investments across the region.
Robs dedication to environmental stewardship is evident from his two-term tenure as a Palm Beach Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor, where he served as board chair for four years. He spearheaded the Ambassador to Everglades educational program for high school students and led the district to become a statewide leader in water conservation efforts. In recognition of his public service, Rob received an award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies in 2022.
As he campaigns for the State House, Rob is committed to addressing the pressing challenges facing Floridians today. His priorities include promoting economic growth, supporting small businesses, investing in public education, and securing state funding to enhance quality of life in Palm Beach County. Hes a strong advocate for environmental conservation, working to protect Floridas natural resources and build community resilience to climate change.
Rob previously served as President of the Palm Beach Young Democrats and a Biden delegate to the Democratic National Convention. In 2018, he founded Door 2 Door Strategies, a grassroots community engagement organization that has played a key role in statewide ballot initiatives, supported Democratic candidates up and down the ballot, registered underserved residents for COVID-19 vaccinations, and facilitated community dialogues to ensure residents have a voice in local developments.
Originally from Punxsutawney, PA, Rob earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. He moved to Florida to begin his career as a field engineer with RS&H, a prominent engineering firm. Committed to continuous learning, he earned a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from the University of Florida while advancing his career. Rob is also the author of The Great Weather Diviner, a book that reimagines the Groundhog Day tradition made famous by his hometown.
