(2,580 posts)Not so much anymore. The main attraction is we have no income tax. Reinstate that and maybe the rich arseholes will go away.
Not that theyll leave anything good behind, seeing as how much damage has been done
*sigh*

(2,580 posts)Id be willing to sacrifice us for that favour if they want to aim for Mar-A-Fucking-Lago. Even the Left Coast has become a crowded shithole, and towering concrete shoeboxes and choking traffic are obliterating the scenery and everything that made Florida a cool place to live.

(285 posts)moved here to be near the grandkids. Luckily, I bought my house right before the prices shot up. I definitely could not afford to buy here now. I pay around $5K for home insurance which is crazy!
And now they are trying to get rid of the property taxes. They say it would only be for the actual residents - not for vacation homes, etc - but I have my doubts. I also think it is a terrible idea. Yes I would save $$ but how would services be paid? I think it will ruin the state (even more) for regular working people who would pay a higher sales tax. The money has to come from somewhere. Unfortunately, I am betting that it will pass.
I think I am stuck here until I die. I am a widow so it is not easy for me to pick up and move.
