My dogs want to go out but after only a minute or two, they come right back in. And I don't think it's safe for them to be out very long.
We've had plenty of hot Septembers but this is getting to me.
How are y'all coping? I don't even want to know what the a/c bill is going to be.

(25,849 posts)Came back to SF thinking it would be cooler. Had to break out the fan and turned on my ceiling fan. But this is the usual warm season in SF.
Growing up in SF it always got hot after school started and it was miserable in classrooms with no air conditioning and wearing a wool uniform skirt. The summers were cold and foggy and then September hits and 80-90 degrees.

(53,471 posts)Sept is really hot and when I was teaching there was no A/C. I even put my own in the classroom but it didn't make any difference (room was too big). I taught at year round schools and didn't get out until July 21st. I taught my first graders how to read a thermometer (usually it was over 90). The fans just blew their papers all over the room. Usually I would walk around the room and mist them with water all afternoon. You can NOT learn or teach when it is that hot. I left 6 years ago when I got sick and since then they have finally installed A/C.

(54,770 posts)We are approaching a record for days above 90 degrees, and the humidity is awful.

(97,576 posts)a cold snap this past week in Montana. There's snow above 8Kft, not much but it fell two days ago. We finally saw 71F today after a week in the 50s and 60s in the valleys. Had to fire up the furnace for a few nights! Before that it was in the high 80s and 90s for over a month. It will be in the 80s tomorrow they say.
