Hall Co. Board of Elections officially puts SPLOST on November ballot

A week after the Hall County Board of Commissioners approved a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) referendum to be on the November ballot, the Hall County Board of Elections officially put it on the ballot.

The election board held a special called meeting on Tuesday, officially placing the SPLOST referendum on the ballot for the Nov. 4 general election.

“Hall County voters will have an opportunity to vote on the SPLOST IX program ballot question in November, which would continue the 1% sales tax program that has been in place for Hall County for the past 40 years,” Director of Hall County Elections Lori Wurtz said.

It’s estimated that 30 to 40% of the 1% sales tax used to fund county projects is raised by out-of–county residents.
