Do you know where to vote Election Day?

With Election Day drawing near, the Effingham County Board of Elections office is reminding voters to stay abreast of where to cast their ballot.

Laura Bassett, director of elections and registration, said the election office is not a polling precinct on May 19. Voters can check the Secretary of State’s webpage to find out their polling location.

“I think one election, maybe in 2024 we had about 200 people come to our office to try and vote on Election Day,” said Bassett. “We don't do any voting on Election Day in our office, all of our early voting always ends the Friday before election day. People are used to voting early now so they are used to coming to our office.”

The Secretary of State’s Election Hub features a breakdown of poll numbers by county, party, race and more. Bassett said the site is also helpful for voters who need to do basic things, such as change their address.
