Hawarden Food Pantry sees growing need for help

Recently, Salberg said she has received more calls after the U.S. Department of Agriculture posted a notice that federal food aid through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will not be distributed on Nov. 1.

“The SNAP notice that’s been posted about no assistance has made more people contact me asking if there will be food distributions or if they can get help from the pantry because their benefits won’t be coming in,” she said. “SNAP doesn’t give these people a ton of money, but they budget monthly, and losing that amount is a big deal for many.”

Volunteers hope by sharing the needs of the pantry, they will be able to do some kind of Thanksgiving give in addition to the regular November give. This will be the first year in several, according to Salberg, where the pantry had to chose between doing a Thanksgiving give or a Christmas give because of being low on food and funds.

I hate Republicans. All of them. DJT is a convicted felon and is ruining the holidays. Kids go hungry. Adults too.
