Local Government in small towns

We had our municipal election.

A right wing douchenozzle has been elected mayor with 69 votes.

Our town has 3 voting wards, so, three councilmembers.

Our ward had no one on the ballot, so DH and I wrote his name in.

So, now he's on the city council starting in January.

Should be interesting.

But, given the MANY opinions people have on how the city is run, you'd think that the loudest complainers would have run for office to fix it.

That's it...needed to rant a little teeny bit.

Oh and a really big nut (woke mind virus screamer) from our town has decided to run for Governor.

I hope.

Congratulations.

Small town government is always interesting.

My Dad was on the town council for a brief stint when I was a kid. One day he came home with a big book of the local ordinances. I remember reading some of it. Apparently, it was against the law to spit on the sidewalk!

several years ago.

He got into it with some of the people there, but everyone respected him.

The staff LOVED him. He's also pretty well-known in town as the coach of our Robotics team, so he'll probably be fine.

He has strong opinions and no problem voicing them either.

So, I think it will be fine. The person who called him was shocked that he was willing to serve. LOL.

it was just too much with having kids and a real job.

But I did make several improvements.

Fortunately my town was pretty blue even back then.

I wish you smooth sailing
