Hutchinson Public Schools seeks $109.5 million bond approval in Nov. 4 election

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KWCH) - Hutchinson Public Schools is asking voters to approve a $109.5 million bond in Tuesday’s election, the district’s first school bond vote in nearly 20 years.

USD 308 plans to make additions to its campus, including renovations to its sports complex and building a new middle school.

If the school bond is approved, the district plans to close five of its buildings, including the two current Hutchinson middle schools. The district has plans to repurpose one building for Pre-K and district offices. The other will be sold or put up for rent.

Seventy-five percent of the bond funding is set for the proposed new middle school, which will include 6th, 7th and 8th graders. A wing will be built solely for the sixth graders.
